Talk and Signing with Acclaimed YA Author Kendare Blake (Eastwood)
Schuler Books & Music - Eastwood, Wednesday, October 22 at 7pm
Kendare Blake exploded onto the Young Adult scene with her debut novel, Anna Dressed in Blood in 2011, and its well-received sequel, Girl of Nightmares, in 2012. The books earned starred reviews, landed on recommended reading and awards lists (including feature as a ALA/YALSA’s Best Fiction for Young Adults selection and as an ALA/YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers), and Anna Dressed in Blood was named one of NPR’s Top 5 YA Novels of the Year and Kirkus Reviews' Best Teen Books of 2011. (Anna is being developed for film by Stephenie Meyer’s company, Fickle Fish Films) Now, Kendare Blake is back with an exhilarating new series, that began last year with Antigoddess, and continues with this fall’s Mortal Gods (On-sale on October 14, 2014). The Goddess War series has earned rave reviews thus far. Publishers Weekly called Antigoddess “a gory, thrilling vision of the twilight of the gods,” in its starred review, and Kirkus Reviews says that “this new series from one of the best up-and-coming horror/suspense writers around updates Greek mythology but offers far more than a Percy Jackson retread.” We’ll have a giveaway drawing for a bag of upcoming young adult releases as well, so make sure you save the date!

Short biography
Kendare Blake is an import from South Korea who was raised in the United States by caucasian parents. You know, that old chestnut. She received a Bachelor's degree in Business from Ithaca College and a Master's degree in Writing from Middlesex University in London. She brakes for animals, the largest of which was a deer, which sadly didn't make it, and the smallest of which was a mouse, which did, but it took
forever. Amongst her likes are Greek Mythology, rare red meat and veganism. She also enjoys girls who can think with the boys like Ayn Rand, and boys who scare the morality into people, like Bret Easton Ellis.
