A delightful and whimsical cozy mystery with a touch of fantasy and gardening, this novel is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed the book, so I plan to go back read the previous ones for more backstory. The author intricately describes creating fairy gardens (which, even for black thumbs, was extremely fascinating), delicious food (that Monte Cristo!), and, of course, fairies. There's 10 yummy recipes included at the end, at least half with a gluten-free option. For fantasy or gardening cozy fans.

While Courtney and others are busy preparing for their exhibition booth to welcome the annual Summer Blooms Festival, the murder of her friend, Genevieve, has dampened the joyous atmosphere.

As the investigation is underway, the second murder of another Courtney’s acquaintance has really shocked the endearing community of the Carmel-by-the-Sea to the core! Courtney then realizes that she could be the next target, and she, together with her fairy friend Fiona, have to race against the ticking clock to find the real killer!

Daryl Wood Gerber, once again, has cleverly crafted this well-paced and smooth-flowing A TWINKLE OF TROUBLE! It is a charming and magical cozy that will keep you engrossed in the mystery and delighted with the sprinkles of fairy wonder!
