Two creepy classics are revisited with the new works by young adult novelists, Gretchen McNeil and Christine Fonseca, at our Sunday afternoon event. Gretchen’s first novel, Possess, was a YA novel about a teenage exorcist. Gretchen sticks to the scares and things that go bump in the night with her latest YA novel, Ten, inspired in part by Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. Christine, author of the Requiem series, echoes strains of The Phantom of the Opera in her new historical teen gothic romance, Transcend.

Editor Georgia McBride has developed a reputation in the YA community through YALITCHAT.org, a non-profit organization she founded in 2009 to promote young adult literature worldwide. Two and Twenty Dark Tales was conceived to collect “dark and twisted retellings of Mother Goose rhymes … done in a positive way.” Contributors Nancy Holder, Gretchen McNeil, Nina Berry, C. Lee McKenzie, and Suzanne Lazear will talk about what inspired them to choose the rhymes they selected for their stories.
