Nick Offerman, a Joliet native, is best known for the role of Ron Swanson on NBC’s hit comedy series Parks & Recreation, where he co-stars alongside Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe. He won a Television Critics Association Award for Achievement in Comedy in 2011 for this role and earned his first nomination in 2010. He also received two Critics’ Choice Television Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.Offerman got his start in the Chicago theater community, where he was a founding member of the Defiant Theatre. He also just toured and recorded American Ham, a musical-comedy with Megan Mullally (Will & Grace star and, coincidentally, his wife). He received a Joseph Jefferson Award for his performance in The Kentucky Cycle, at Chicago’s Pegasus Players Theatre and was awarded anoter for the puppets and masks he crafted for The Skriker, at the Defiant. He also worked at Steppenwolf, The Goodman, Wisdom Bridge and Pegasus Players, among others.
