She has been awarded MacArthur Fellowship, the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize, the Orange Broadband Prize, and the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award. Set during the Biafran struggle for independence, Half of a Yellow Sun tells a story at once harrowing and tender, panoramic and personal.
