Edward Stratemeyer was asked by Alger's sister to continue his work and he was given access to unfinished manuscripts, Alger plays, and other materials in the "Alger Scrapbook".

Edward Stratemeyer wrote successful series under his own name and several pseudonyms and would form the Stratemeyer Syndicate where he created famous series including Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, among others.
