Ms. Ashrawi talked about her memoir, “This Side of Peace: A Personal Account,” published by Simon and Schuster. The book talks about her life growing up as a Christian Arab woman in a Muslim-dominated section of the world and how she dealt with her differences in becoming an Arab leader. It focuses on her personal participation in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. She also used the work to profile the Palestinian community from within. It talks about the PLO, Yasser Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin, the Oslo talks, and the relationship between Israelis and Palestinians.
