Born in Central Japan in 1940. Taught American Literature at Aoyama Gakuin University. Edited the letters of and wrote a biography of Yone Noguchi. Translated Japanese poetry into English. Dedicated feminist. Traveled extensively in the US and Canada lecturing, including being a guest at the Iowa International Writer's Workshop.
