John Banville - Ancient Light In his erudite, intricate, sixteenth novel, the Man Booker-Award-winning author of The Sea returns to several characters he created in Shroud and Eclipse. Alexander Cleave, mourning the death of his troubled daughter, has little to look forward to and seems set to live in the past—in particular, his fifteenth year, and the affair he had with his friend’s mother—when his acting career is suddenly revived with a major role in a film called The Invention of the Past.

Edwin Frank, editor of the NYRB Classics series which is republishing Simenon, will be in the chair. (FlossieT)… (more)
