According to Wikipedia, Pierre Barbet (May 16, 1925 - July 20, 1995) was the main pseudonym used by French science fiction writer Claude Avice. There was also a medical doctor who did extensive experiments with cadavers to determine blodd flow, etc., and wrote A Doctor at Calvary (verifying the marks on the Shroud of Turin).
