This is a very informational book about the Earth. It explains how things like volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and weather all shape our planet. I loved the format of the book. The fold out portions of the book make it very interesting and engaging. This would be a great book to use for a science class, especially when teaching about the Earth.

This book is great because of all of the pictures. Each page is like a different underwater ocean scene. Some pages are clear and you flip them to reveal new things on the next page. Great for even the low readers, because they can experience water through the pictures.

Our Changing Planet is a survey of introductory geological topics ranging from the history of earth studies to seasonal rhythms in each hemisphere. The real gem of this book is its format. It contains many engaging fold out portions such as satellite maps of volcanic islands to mountain ranges placed in contrast of each other as separate folds. Step wise explanations of volcanic island formation, canyon formation, and continental drift allow for the learner to explore the processes that formed present day earth. Also, many historical events concerning geology were cited and briefly visited. While this book can engage some students, I also see how these multiple fold outs could become distractions for some students and prevent them from absorbing the material.Outside of that, the information presented in this book is valuable and accurate. I would certainly recommend this book to any class through middle school that is interested in geological processes.… (more)
