Conversation With William Bernhardt William Bernhardt reads from Nemesis: The Final Case of Eliot Ness. William Bernhardt has been gluing readers of thrillers to their chairs since his first novel, “Primary Justice,” was published in 1991. His latest thriller, “Nemesis: The Final Case of Eliot Ness,” hit bookstores and library shelves last month. Get ready, because this international bestselling author will visit Oklahoma City during the second week in March for four appearances at Metropolitan Library System libraries. Have a “Conversation With William Bernhardt” and you may never see the writing of crime fiction the same way again. “A lot of people don’t know that Bill Bernhardt was born and grew up in Midwest City,” said Anita Roesler, of the library system’s Outreach Department. “He lives in Tulsa now, and even though he is close to us, he is in such demand as a speaker we’re lucky to be able to bring him here for four programs.” One audience member from a previous talk wrote of Bernhardt, “Bill’s humor, expertise, passion, and respect for the art [of writing] was exceptional. He was welcoming, heartfelt, genuinely supportive and instructive.” Bernhardt has confessed several times to being a strong advocate of public libraries. He writes on his website that as a boy, “I never missed an opportunity to visit the library, which was blissfully near my home, and the librarians there took a great interest in this nerdy, shy, bespectacled kid who kept reappearing almost every day. They encouraged me to read widely and to read the best of everything, and that is exactly what I did and have continued to do all my life.” In addition to having written 20 novels and edited two successful volumes of short stories, Bernhardt is also a publisher, having founded the HAWK Group in 1999. “Conversation With William Bernhardt” will be: Sunday, March 8, 2009, 2pm: Belle Isle Library, 5501 N. Villa (843-9601) Monday, March 9, 2009, 10am: Southern Oaks Library, 6900 S. Walker (631-4468) Monday, March 9, 2009, 7pm: The Village Library, 10307 N.
