No other book to date has fully revealed what happens behind the curtain on Broadway, about which Black writes with great insight and humor.
Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. David Black will give a free reading from his just-released memoir Falling off Broadway. A book signing will follow.
About Falling off Broadway David Black produced 18 Broadway shows – his memoir brims with personal accounts of theatrical luminaries and well-known figures such as Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud, Julie Harris, Gene Hackman, Joel Grey, Bernadette Peters, Burt Reynolds, Julie Andrews, Joshua Logan, Alan King, David Merrick, Donald Trump, and even Richard Nixon.
David Black is also the author of The Actor’s Audition, and The Magic of Theater.
The inspiration for Falling off Broadway is Black’s one-man play, which opened to rave reviews in both New York and London. Benedict Nightingale of The London Times wrote, “David Black is unabashed enough to own up to his life-lapses with a wry, dry humour. I enjoyed his show for the glimpses it gave of Broadway and one of its victims: himself.”
