Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Richard Henry Bonnycastle was an officer of the British army in Upper Canada, serving at Fort George, Kingston, and York (Toronto). He was placed in command of the engineers at Kingston with the task of completing construction of the new Fort Henry. The Bonnycastle family of Canadian politicians and adventurers was the founder of Harlequin Enterprises.
