Botz received a B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute, College of Art, and an M.F.A. from Bard College. She is the photographer/author of The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death (Monacelli Press, 2004). She has been internationally exhibited, including solo exhibitions at Bellwether Gallery, New York; and group exhibitions at Jackson Fine Arts, Atlanta; Hemphill Fine Arts, Washington, DC; and Wurttembergischer Kunstverein, Stuttgart, Germany. Her work has been reviewed by The New York Times, Village Voice, BookForum and Modern Painters. She is the recipient of residencies from Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Atlantic Center for the Arts, and Akademie Schloss Solitude Fellowship, Stuttgart, Germany.
