While at times very dry, Inheritors of a Glorious Reality, provides a unique look at this historic Pittsburgh hospital. Shadyside Hospital began shortly after the Civil War and quickly established itself as one of the leading teaching hospitals in the nation. Although the name has changed to UPMC Hospital, it's reputation has grown along with the hospital and is now recognized throughout the world.
