As children, she and her surviving sisters and brother growing up in their father's Yorkshire parsonage wrote many stories and poems. She published Jane Eyre under the pseudonym Currer Bell, but eventually did reveal her identity to a circle of other English writers. She married Rev. Arthur Bell Nicholls, her father's curate, in 1854 and died the following year while pregnant with her first child.  | |
