Emma Sophia, Countess Brownlow, née Edgecumbe, was a daughter of Richard Edgecumbe, 2nd Earl of Mount Edgecumbe. Lady Emma married as his third wife John Cust, 1st Earl Brownlow. She served as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Adelaide, wife of King William IV, and published her memoirs in 1868.
