Alan M. Bryan preached for churches of Christ in Alabama, Texas, and Tennessee. He served for a time on the faculty of David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee, and was associate editor of Christian Bible Teacher. He was well known for initiating the "soul-winning workshops" held in various cities beginning in the 1970s.
