A smorgasboard of Roman art from early Republican Rome to the Fascist era. I'm just soaking in the visuals. No architecture after 1800, a curious omission.

Every time I read or see something about Rome, it makes me want to be there. This book is no exception: the photography alone is worth purchasing the book, plus the texts are great.

Here are angels as assistants, messengers, punishers, soldiers, rebels and saviours, assembled for the delectation and delight of both scholars and believers.… (more)
