This is a great book that is full of information about sharks. There are some awesome photos of sharks in and out of the water. There are some great vocabulary words in this book. This book reveals a brief history of sharks.

Critique of Genere- This is an Informational book as it presents facts about the subject.
This is a great example of an informational text. It includes a glossary, text boxes. and it is long enough that it is broken into chapters. This is a little lengthy so it would definitely need to be for more advanced readers or in a second and up classroom. The pictures that were chosen were really great and definitely enhanced the text. They had diagrams and other uses of text to explain parts of the sharks body and all of the different types of sharks there are. Genre: Informational Uses: This would be a great use if you are doing a lesson on sharks or sea animals. The second use is that a lot of boys and girls would be more interested in a book on sharks over some of the other books they are required to read. A last reason is if you do a project on animals(I did one on Grizzly bears in the third grade) so this could be a great book for a student if they wanted to do it on sharks.… (more)
