Born Fiona Aitken, the current Countess of Carnarvon is married to George Herbert, 8th Earl of Carnarvon. She studied English and German at the University of St. Andrews before becoming an accountant and working at Coopers & Lybrand. She met her future husband in 1996 and, after his father died, the couple took over running the family's ancestral estate, Highclere Castle in Berkshire.  The castle has been the fictional setting for several movies and television series, including Downton Abbey.
