Dr. Gordon Ceperley, 83, faithful "Abba Cep," entered into the presence of his Lord on April 15, 2004, following a years-long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Gordon was born and raised in Oneonta, the son of Clarence and Nathalie Ceperley, and the grandson of Andrew E. Ceperley, former mayor of Oneonta.
Gordon was educated in the local public schools and graduated from Oneonta High School.
He was an ordained Baptist minister, and he became the first full-time faculty member of Philadelphia Biblical University in 1949. Over the years he became known for his extensive understanding of the Middle East and Bible prophecy. He led more than 25 tours to Israel and lectured extensively in leading churches and Bible conferences.
In 1992, Dr. Ceperley was awarded PBU's first honorary doctorate and in 1996, he was named Professor Emeritus.
