From Wikipedia: Somerset de Chair was Conservative MP for South West Norfolk and then for Paddington South. He was a Parliamentary Private Secretary from 1942 to 1944.

He wrote nonfiction, a number of now largely forgotten novels, one play, three collections of poetry, as well as a number of works of autobiography.
He was known for his extravagant taste and lived in a series of large country houses. He was married four times, lastly to Lady Juliet Wentworth-Fitzwilliam.
