"RUBY! THE STORY OF RUBY BRIDGES"
STEPPINGSTONE THEATRE PRESENTS
January 31, Saturday, 10:30am The inspirational story of Ruby Bridges, the courageous African-American first-grader who was ordered by the U.S. Supreme Court to integrate the all-white Franz Elementary School in New Orleans in 1960, comes to life this morning at The Red Balloon when actors from SteppingStone Theatre perform selected scenes from the play "Ruby! The Story of Ruby Bridges." Ruby’s story, full of perseverance and hope, is as relevant today as it was in the Sixties. If you’re interested in learning more about this extraordinary six-year-old who helped shape American history, read the picture book The Story of Ruby Bridges, written by Robert Coles. It captures the courage of the little girl who stood alone in the face of racism. The full-length version of the play runs from February 9 through March 1, 2009, at SteppingStone Theatre, 55 Victoria Street North in Saint Paul’s Historic Hill District.
