I have to be completely honest. I was a little thrown off that the book started off with a graphic sex scene. I wasn’t totally expecting that after reading the blurb, but with that being said, I totally understand how it was necessary to set the stage for the rest of the book.

We have a young couple, madly in love, in an obviously vulnerable position. The author did a beautiful job conveying each characters feelings of vulnerability and love during this scene which, as a reader, isn’t all that typical during a sex scene. Fast forward ten years, and the stage is set. We have two people who have yet to settle down and always wonder what would have happened?

The only thing I didn’t like about this type of story was the idea that if you are so in love with someone, why not try to locate them? Both their “friends” were still in the same town and all they needed to do to check up on old chums was stalk them on Facebook. Both were completely ignorant of each others pasts and seemed genuinely surprised to see one another. Which brings me to my next questioning moment in the book. Camilla has supposedly been living in the same town her whole life. She’s hiding a pretty big secret and if I was hiding a secret like that I know for sure I would have been keeping tabs on William and his family. Which apparently she doesn’t because she nearly gets sick when she sees that he’s returned to bury his father.

William still loves Camilla and wonders if he’s going to see her. I appreciate his character more because he actually puts forth way more effort than Camilla. Again we later find out why and it was a pretty interesting story twist. One that as a reader I could appreciate, especially given the fact that it was a novella.

I think the biggest problem I had with the book was that the author had this amazing plot but wasn’t able to flush it out because of how short the book was. I would REALLY like to see either a sequel or for her to expand on this book at a later date, maybe make it into a full novel. The dialogue was fast paced and interesting. Clearly, this author can tell a story, that much is clear. I also appreciated the depth of emotions each character felt.

If you are a fan of erotic romance and want something short to read, this is a definite must.

Again, I really want to reiterate that I think this author is talented. I am eager to read and possibly review other books of hers.
