This was fantastic. I have rarely been so thoroughly pulled into a story as I was into this. I read it in a day, and already bought the next book. The love story is great, the series plot is hair-raising, and you should definitely join in!

I don't regret reading this, but I am hesitant to continue reading the series.

I started counting how many chapters left before the end at five, because while the beginning and the last chapter are better done, everything in between needed more editing, some parts quite a lot more. This felt very much like it was finished on a deadline and not allowed to become the novel it should have been. This includes some distancing language during sex scenes - the last place you want your reader to be distanced. Much of the dialogue was predictable/boring and ditto some of the actions, the sorts of things cleaned up in a thorough edit.

But the very worst is what Elliot does that pulls Myles into the group. It's just plain old stupid. They've spent a decade being secret. That's a HABIT now. It is lazy writing to have one of them screw up that badly. I'd like to think it was deliberate, but I can't trust the author that far.

But I adore Baz.

This BOOK. It grabbed my brain immediately and kept hold of it, made me laugh and made me mad, and made me awww. It is spiritual-paranormal, and it is all from the perspective of the non-psychic main character, Kurt. I loved that Orion's past does not dictate his present, and I loved how his resilience is revealed. I loved Kurt's dad, who is just as complex as Kurt and Orion. I loved that Kurt confronts his own privilege, his imperfections, and his judgey attitudes. But not without some pain. I loved how Kurt recognizes his bisexuality.

It's just a really good story. This author made me want to whack Kurt upside the head - and that is as it should be.

Yep...intriguing for sure. I first fell in love with Darien Cox's Victim of Love" and immediately went in search for other edgy stories to consume. And edgy I got. Well...maybe not so much edgy but definitely eye raising.

This book involves one of our MC's being in an Open Relationship.

A first for me. And while I was kind of taken back, our MC was just so sweet and adorable that I just had to see where this would go. Now granted his "boyfriend" is a crazy asshole...so that helped me be OK with this. I guess OK is the right word? I just wanted our MCs together and ole asshole to GO AWAY!!

The first 70% of this book I really enjoyed...but how this ended up was a little too rosey cheeked for me. I needed a little more angst, a little more drama, a fight...something. Things just fell in place just too easy for me.

So what's next...well the asshole has his own book. Will I read it...but of course. :)

The was a good read and I got to push some personal limits for myself related to an open relationship (which I am more convinced than ever can never truly work) and at what point lines of cheating are crossed. This may not be for everyone but I was intrigued from the start.

BR with Elsbeth (Momo started but this one wasn't for her)

***

Thank you Els for the gift and the BR. :) And bonus love for the Cover!
