Dianne Day, born in the Mississippi Delta, moved to the San Francisco Bay area as a child and went to schools in Sunnyvale and San Jose before attending Stanford.  She has two graduate degress and worked as a psychologist, psychotherapist, and health services administrator before starting to write--after which she worked at whatever it took to support herself and her writing habit.
