Short biography
Caroline de Broutelles was the editor of La Mode pratique, a French magazine for women published by Hachette, one of the first periodicals to use fashion photography. She later became the editor of the literary magazine La Vie heureuse. In 1904, she announced the foundation of a new annual literary prize called the Prix Vie Heureuse, with an exclusively female jury to select the recipients. It became one of the most important literary prizes and the origin of the current Prix Femina, as it's been known since 1922.
