Ceana had been brought up as the maid to her supposed half sister, if the rumors were to be believed, and how could they not be when they looked like they could have come from the same womb and had been even born on the same day. Traveling with Sorcha was not easy and it seemed like she would again feel the pain from the damage from her Lady's enraged temper. A twist of fate would make Ceana follow a new path. She could not allow the Laird to harm the young boy he had kidnapped in plans of making this union. She would make the sacrifice and wed the man her "twin" was promised to. Keeping the secrets of their journey a secret forever.

Laird Ethan had no plans on marrying. Especially not a woman he was being strong-armed into taking, but he would do everything he could to get his younger brother back from the brutal man who held him captive. Sensing that something was amiss when his new bride arrived and was strangely demure compared to the rumors he had heard about her shrewish ways, he none-the-less said his vows to his beautiful bride. Betrayed by her devious connection to the wedding switch, Ethan cannot forgive the lies so easily. Ceana has trouble making her mind accept that she is not truly the one to capture his heart, that he believes her to be Sorsha. With a mother in law who hates her for her own reasons, Ceana finds herself in danger again when she's sent away with her newly accepted and much different sister. Even the trauma does not make Ethan change his mind about his comely wife when the twins are rescued from the vikings that captured and beat them. It takes another threat before he knows his bride is something he will fight for forever.

I fell in love with this story. The hero is not your typical perfect albeit troubled man. He stutters, he had been tortured and yet he endured. He survived and grew to be a man held in awe despite being the weakling son that had to escape his own home before his father and brother killed him for being a detriment to their clan. Ceana is a many times over abused woman. Much like another character in the book she has always dusted herself off from the abuse but inside ached from the pain of betrayal and the physical hurts inflicted upon her by those who she should have been able to trust. Together they find a way to survive and to trust in the love that blossoms between them.
