John D’Emilio, professor of History and Gender and Women’s Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Estelle Freedman of Stanford University, have selected 16 of Bérubé’s most important essays, providing a retrospective on his life and work, while documenting the emergence of a grassroots lesbian and gay history movement.
