Corvallis plant breeder Carol Deppe, author of The Resilient Gardener: Food Production and Self-Reliance in Uncertain Times will speak on "Gardening for Food Security: Growing, Storing, and Using the Staple Crops You Need to Survive and Thrive--potatoes, corn, beans, and squash." Carol will answer questions, sign books, and sell seeds after the talk. Deppe, who has a BS in zoology from University of Florida and a PhD in biology from Harvard University, specializes in developing public-domain crops for organic growing conditions, sustainable agriculture, and human survival.
