California Bookstore Day in San Diego!
Mysterious Galaxy, Saturday, May 3 at 10am
What is Bookstore Day?

California Bookstore Day, on Saturday May 3, 2014, is a project of the Northern and Southern California Independent Booksellers Associations, representing more than 300 bookstores.

We believe indie bookstores are an essential part of lively communities, the free-flow of ideas, and the thrill of discovery.

CBD will harness the creative power of authors and publishers in a giant celebration of the written word that will drive readers to brick-and-mortar bookstores. For one day, and one day only, a number of very limited-edition, unique, word-based items and books will be available in more than 100 independent stores across the state. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill signed first editions—these are literature-based art projects, unique books, and collector’s items created for this event only.

To learn more, visit California Bookstore Day's Facebook page. To donate, visit the Indiegogo campaign page. Kimberly Derting Alyson Noel Margaret Stohl

Among the authors gracing our store on California Bookstore Day will be Kimberly Derting, author of The Taking; Alyson Noël, author of Horizon; and Margaret Stohl, author of Icons.

The King's English Bookshop, Thursday, May 1 at 7pm
Join young adult authors, Kimberly Derting and Bree Despain as they read from and sign their new young adult novels, The Taking and The Shadow Prince.

The last thing Kyra Agnew remembers is a flash of bright light. She awakes to discover that five whole years have passed. Everyone in her life has moved on--her parents divorced, her boyfriend is in college and dating her best friend--but Kyra's still the sixteen-year-old she was when she vanished. She finds herself drawn to Tyler, her boyfriend's kid brother, despite her best efforts to ignore her growing attraction. In order to find out the truth, the two of them decide to retrace her steps from that fateful night. They discover there are others who have been "taken," just like Kyra. Only, Kyra is the first person to have been returned past the forty-eight-hour taken mark. With a determined, secret government agency after her, Kyra desperately tries to find an explanation and reclaim the life she once had . . . but what if the life she wants back is not her own?
