Born in Rotterdam. Worked since 1964 as an artist, graphic designer and journalist. Since 1970 studied Art, Art History, Architecture, Urban Planning and Education; MPhil Humanities (Dissertation: Open City. Planning Development, Townplanning, housing and architecture in Rotterdam between the orld Wars, 1988). Organized international conferences, wrote books and articles. Amateur biologist (Herpetology, Ornithology). Loves to hike in the mountains and along the seaside; swimming and kayaking; interests in martial arts (active judo, kendo, kempo till 1999). Co-curated an exposition and co-edited the catalogue about Gerrit Rietveld for Centraal Museum, Utrecht / NAi (Dutch Architecture Institute, Rotterdam) contributed to the version in MAXXI, Rome.
