Jacques De Visscher studeerde binnenhuisarchitectuur en moraalwetenschap. Hij was hoogleraar filosofie aan het Architectuurinstituut Sint-Lucas (Gent/Brussel) en bijzonder hoogleraar Filosofie en Literatuur aan de Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen. Hij is de auteur van onder meer Naakt geboren (1999) en Onderkennen wat beschikbaar is (2000). Hij vertaalde en becommentarieerde werk van Kant, Levinas, Arendt en Ricoeur.
