Has an inscription that dates the book to 1956 - 'To Cynthia for Christmas 1956, and for a Happy New Year'. The cover design is wistful and the Prix Femina ribbon is retained. The colour illustrations by Jean Reschofsky are of their time and coney the mood of the story. This is a wonderful book of imagination, a journey into a world of mystery, magic and memory.

This beautiful story charts the life of Jacques and Jeanne and their children against a rural background that emphasises the remorseless flow of the seasons through a lifetime.

A great combination, the words by Andre Dhotel, the poetry by Jean Follain. This copy still has a library issue label in it - Bibliotheque Municipale, Melun, one return date 10. Sept 1994. Who was that reader?
