Françoise Dolto was famous for her innovative research on the psychology of babies and children. She became one of the founding members of the French Psychoanalytical Society (from which she would subsequently resign) and in 1964, with Jacques Lacan, a co-founder of the Freudian School of Paris. They influenced generations of psychoanalysts with their theories. She also had a successful live radio show in which she answered questions from the audience. Born Françoise Marette, in 1942 she married Boris Ivanovitch Dolto, a rheumatologist, and the couple had 3 children.
