Susan J. Douglas, prize-winning author, columnist and cultural critic, will be the keynote speaker for two events celebrating Women’s History Month and the Women’s Resource Center’s 25th anniversary in March. Douglas is author of Where the Girls Are, a widely praised book about the confusing and contradictory images of women in American pop culture that was chosen as one of the Top Ten Books of 1994 by American Public Radio and Entertainment Weekly. She also wrote The Mommy Myth, a scathing look at media’s obsession with the “perfect mom.” Her most recent book, The Rise of Enlightened Sexism, takes on current media stereotypes of feminism and women. Douglas will appear at Fort Lewis College on March 22 and at the WRC’s Awards Luncheon and 25th anniversary celebration on March 23.
