Short biography
"William Eastlake (1917-1997) was born in Brooklyn to British parents. His mother was confined to a mental institution while he was still an infant, and he and his brother were sent to a boarding school in New Jersey. He worked many jobs across the country and, in 1942, joined the Army. He eventually settled on a ranch in New Mexico, where he befriended the Navajo Indians of the area. He continued to travel and move through the Southwest and elsewhere."
