R. M. Kinder is author of An Absolute Gentleman (Counterpoint Press 2007), and two collections of short fiction: A Near-Perfect Gift, winner of the 2005 University of Michigan Press literary fiction award, and Sweet Angel Band, winner of the 1991 Willa Cather Award, Helicon Nine Editions. Her fiction has appeared most recently in the Notre Dame Review anthology The First Ten Years, and is forthcoming in Hawai’i Pacific Review, Raven Chronicles, and Confrontation. An owner/editor of Cave Hollow and Sweetgum regional presses, she also works with Pleiades, New Letters, and BkMk Press. Matthew Eck is the author of the novel The Farther Shore. He was recently selected as one of the National Book Foundation’s “5 under 35” writers to watch. Among other honors his novel was the recipient of the Milkweed National Fiction Prize, the Society of Midland Authors Fiction Award, a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection, and first runner-up for the Barnes & Noble Discover Award. He teaches creative writing at the University of Central Missouri and is a fiction editor for Pleiades. He lives in Kansas City. This event features music by Gib Shell. (caracabe)
