Liked this quite a bit! I thought he setting was really what sold it. Was a lush description of small town Tennessee, and I loved all the shades of queer life in the town. It was a nuanced look at where gay life is in 2015 in parts of the country. It's not exactly like it is New York, but it's also not exactly the fifties or even the eighties. It's its own thing. Anyway, I enjoyed reading about Kaycee's journey, and if you like LGBT romances I'm sure you will too.

I got an advance copy of this book from the author, but there was no expectation that I'd leave a review.… (more)

I absolutely LOVED this book! I couldn't put it down. Even though Kaycee got on my nerves a bit, I could understand where her struggle was coming from. The things that she had to go through, even though most of them were in her head or of her own making were awful. I was pleased with the ending, but would have loved to read just a bit more about her, Bren, Van and Sarabeth.

In small-town Sunshine, Tennessee, it's not good to be gay and out. Residents have a provincial mind with the teachings of the church to back up their small minded, intolerant ideas. Kaycee McCoy has tried her hardest to hide who she really is by dating and kissing boys, to her a disgusting task. However, she can't hold back when new-girl Bren comes to town. It's instant attraction.

Kaycee has only confided in Van, who everyone knows is gay. She hasn't told her mother or her best friend for fear of being rejected. However, with Bren, she can't hold her feelings in. As you can imagine, things erupt.

South of Sunshine is a totally enjoyable teen romance. It doesn't matter what genders the lovers are. Have a good time with it.
