Short biography
Ellen Tucker Emerson was one of four children of Ralph Waldo and his second wife, Lidian Jackson Emerson. She was named after his first wife, who had died at age 20. She never married and lived in her parents' home in Concord, Massachusetts, all her life except for a trip to Britain, Europe, and Egypt with her father in 1872-1873. She helped James Elliot Cabot edit her father's manuscripts, and wote a biography of her mother that was published long after her death in 1980.
