Awarded the Distinguished Service award from Luther College in 2011, Dr. Emmons is a psychiatrist in Northfield, Minnesota. His private practice, Partners in Resilience, is the result of decades of exploring ways for people to help themselves through difficult times.
Dr. Emmons' 3 published works provide guides and specific strategies for maintaining mental and physical wellness. His first publication, The Chemistry of Joy (2006) outlines mind-body and alternative therapies, such as mindfulness-based stress reduction. He followed up with The Chemistry of Joy Workbook in 2012, which is a guide for personal and group assignments, and has been endorsed by Andrew Weil, MD; Larry Dossey, MD; and Parker Palmer, PhD and many others in the field of wellness. Another book, The chemistry of calm, 2010, includes numerous guided meditations.
On the evening of October 23 participants will be able to purchase the books and discuss the contents. It is not necessary to have read the books prior to the evening, but the books are available for advance reading.
