Professor Luc Ferry teaches philosophy at the Sorbonne (University of Paris VII, Denis Diderot). He has won numerous awards, including the Prix Médicis, Prix Jean-Jacques-Rousseau, and Prix Aujord'hui, in addition to being an officer of the French Legion of Honor and a knight of the Order of Arts and Letters. From 2002 to 2004 Ferry served as French Minister of National Education. He lives in Paris. [from A Brief History of Thought (2001)]
