Most Haunted was a British-made series that tried to take the investigation of hauntings to a new level. The cast had the obligatory psychic/medium (who, unfortunately, started believing his own press too much, and suffered from a loss of talent directly proportional to the size of his head), but also had a parapsychologist, historian, and some very intelligent lay investigators. Try as I might, I could never see any hint of fraud. It's probable that this series inspired the creation of Syfy's lesser series. While it was never successful in capturing apparitions on film, there were some extremely interesting phenomena.
