This story is a bit unusual because Bella, the heroine, has cystic fibrosis and her health is fast declining without a lung transplant. It's quite a sweet story, really, but I feel the romance developes too fast considering the fact that Charlie starts out viewing Bella as his friend's sister. I don't believe Bella and Charlie spend enough time together before Charlie's feelings begin to change.

A good chunk of the book is also devoted to the heroine's sister, Evie, and her romance with a fellow surgeon (their story spans throughout the Sydney Harbor Hospital series). I enjoy reading their parts, but considering this is a category-length novel, I'd rather have more pages devoted to developing Bella and Charlie's romance. Plus, I don't think it is really necessary to have so much of the book in Evie's perspective. It makes me feel distanced from Bella and I sometimes forget this is not Evie's book, but Bella's.… (more)
