He was Consul to Suez between 1943 and 1944. He was Acting Consul-General to Damascus between 1944 and 1946. He was First Secretary to Addis Ababa in 1946. He was Consul-General to Salonika between 1949 and 1952. He was Consul-General to Oporto between 1952 and 1955. He was Consul-General to Nice between 1955 and 1957. He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1957.
