are very good or even extraordinary. Not all authors however are storytellers. That takes a very special
gift. Grances "Babe" Gunnell had that gift. This is a story about life on Georgetown Island during the years of
1900-1920. The story is told in using local colloquialisms and feels like a gentle journey into the past.
We hear about good times and bad, church, dances and crops. We learn about the hardships and the happiness.
I will keep this one handy to pick up and read random pages when I feel a little down, a little lonely, because
it reminds me of my own family stories from way back when. It makes me feel warm and somehow, safe, I guess that
is because it takes me back to the days I was listening to the grownups talk around my great grandmothers dining table.
That has always been one of my favorite times to travel to in memory.
