Short biography
Lucinda Franks graduated from Vassar College in 1968 and joined The New York Times as a staff writer. In 1971, she became the first woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for her series of articles with Thomas Powers on Diana Oughton, a member of The Weather Underground. She married Robert M. Morgenthau, the longtime District Attorney for New York County, and had two children. She also has written for The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Nation, People, and other publications. She has also taught and lectured at numerous universities. After she discovered in her father's later years that he had been a spy and Resistance agent in World War II, she researched and wrote My Father's Secret War: A Memoir (2007). Her latest book is memoir about her marriage: Timeless: Love, Morgenthau, and Me (2014).
