One of the few pilots to become an ace in two wars (World War II and the Korean War). He was also a prisoner of war in Stalag Luft 1 during WWII. As the eighth jet ace in aerial history, Gabreski had a combined score of 37.5 enemy aircraft destroyed (34.5 aerial victories) during WWII and Korea.
